I discovered the concept of weeknotes from an ex co-worker’s blog and thought it was a cool idea. After a busy week, I often find it helpful to reflect on my work and write down my thoughts so why not give it a shot. 

This week I inherited a big code base and have been working on a big refactor while integrating a new feature. One challenge I faced was explaining the benefits of my work to non-technical colleagues. I managed to simplify a micro-service, eliminate technical debt, and remove over 1000 lines of code, making it easier to understand and add new features in the future. But.. most people don’t care if there isn’t a shiny new feature now, how do I get them to care?

The week ended on a low note when I got stuck on a build error. I plan to take a break over the weekend. Despite being alone at home, I'll take a long walk and spend time with my son to clear my head before starting fresh on Monday.
